One of the biggest illnesses in society today is our inability to trust ourselves. And even if we were to trust ourselves, we often lack the experience and tools to understand and decipher what our body is trying to communicate to us. It takes time and a trial and error process that we have not invested into just yet. Additionally, most of us are so dissociated that we do not have the ability to recognize emotions unless they are alarming ones. This keeps us in a highly reactive and victimized reality. However, when we are no longer in dissociative states, our bodies will use the vagus nerves’ afferent signals to accurately cue the brain about stressors at the correct time and only then. This leaves us with a few minutes of space between our outside reality and how we want to feel them on the inside.

On a simple mechanical level, awareness of the outside of the body inspires the bodies internal awareness as well. Our experience and countless ancient practices show us that the internal body sensations are in fact the subconscious mind. Just like a computer coding system that controls a computer application, a bodily sensation controls our unconscious mind.
